Joseph H. Sherek was inducted into the Army on March 31, 1941.

Mr. Sherek was awarded the following: Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal, Bronze Arrowhead, and Philippines Liberation Medal with one bronze star.
He was honorably discharged on November 25, 1945, at Camp Grant, Illinois.
