Joseph A. Gelling of Hibbing, Minnesota, enlisted in the Army on September 24, 1940.
He served as a Private First Class with Company K of the 354th Infantry Regiment in Rhineland and Central Europe.
Mr. Gelling was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars, American Defense Service Medal with one bronze star, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and six overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged June 27, 1945 at Fort Sheridan, Ill.
