SUSICH, Joseph "Joe" Albert
Joseph Albert Susich was born on June 7th 1918 to Thomas & Philomena [Pintar] Susich in Stanbow, Michigan.
Mr. Susich was inducted into the Army on September 24th 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Hibbing, Minnesota.
He served with the Medical Department at the 371st Station Hospital in Burma. He rose to the rank of as a Private First Class (PFC)
For his merit PFC Susich earned the following:
- Good Conduct Medal,
- American Campaign Medal,
- Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with one bronze battle star -and-
- World War II Victory Medal.
He was in and out of a field hospital and received a disability discharge on March 18th 1946, at the Borden Garden Hospital in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
After the war he returned home and married Jennie Eva [Unkovich] on August 14th 1965. Mr. Susich died on January 22nd 1979 at the ago of 60 years old. He is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
