McVEAN, John William
John William McVean was born on June 28th 1916 to Hugh Martin & Berniece Irene [Fowler] McVean in Duluth, Minnesota.
Mr. McVean married Ida Hannah [Webb] on April 18th 1942 and started a family before he went off to war. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe.
In March 1944, he was stationed in England and was assigned to the field of chemical warfare with the 861st Chemical Company. He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSGT).
Mr. McVean was killed in the war on January 28th 1945 of a non-battle related injury. He is buried at Cambridge American Cemetery in Cambridge, England.
He is also honored on the Veterans Memorial Hall's Wall of Remembrance at the DEPOT in Duluth.
