John L. Cawley of Chisholm, Minnesota entered the Navy on Nov. 18, 1942.
He attended the University of Notre Dame and was commissioned as an ensign. He was a recognition officer and communications officer aboard the USS Woodford (AKA 86) in the Pacific theater.
He received the:
Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Service Medal,
one Bronze Battle Star,
American Campaign Service Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
He was discharged on June 24, 1946.
