John Tomatz

John Tomatz was inducted into the Army on March 26, 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Eveleth, Minnesota.

Mr. Tomatz served as a Sergeant and truck driver assigned to the medical department of Headquarters Company of the Eighth Armored Division in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe.

He was awarded the following: Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one silver battle star (for five campaigns), World War II Victory Medal, and three overseas service bars.

Mr. Tomatz was honorably discharged on November 19, 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
