John S. Stachovich

John S. Stachovich entered the Army on June 23, 1941, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Foley, Minnesota.

He served as a Staff Sergeant and platoon leader with Company E of the 361st Infantry Regiment and Fifth Army in Rome-Arno, North Apennines and Po Valley, Italy. He was wounded in action on April 16, 1944.

Mr. Stachovich was awarded the following: Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, American Defense Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal, and two overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged on October 29, 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
