John P. Paun

John P. Paun Sr.of Gilbert was inducted into the Army on June 15, 1942.
He was a Sergeant and an infantry squad leader, serving in Algeria and Tunisia in North Africa plus Sicily, Naples-Foggia and Rome-Arno in Italy. He was wounded in action on Feb. 1, 1944 in the Mediterranean Theater.
Mr. Paun received the Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, European-African-Middle East Campaign Service Medal with five bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal and three overseas service bars.
He was discharged on Sept. 7, 1945.
