John P. Erkkila

John P. Erkkila of Virginia was inducted into the Army on June 7, 1943 at Fort Snelling, Minn.
He served as a Technician 4th Grade and carpenter with the 784th Engineer Petroleum Distribution Company in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe.
He was wounded in action in December, 1944.
Mr. Erkkila was awarded the Purple Heart, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with bronze arrowhead, World War II Victory Medal and three overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged on Dec. 3, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
