John P. DeLeo

John P. DeLeo was inducted into the Army on March 23, 1942.
He was a technician 5th grade and tank maintenance mechanic with the 4th Tank Battalion. His unit landed in North Africa on Nov. 8, 1943 with the 1st Armored Division. The Germans surrendered in Africa in May.
He was with the 5th Army landing in Naples, Italy; and participated in action at Anzio, Monte Casino and the campaign to the Swiss border, where the German escape route was cut off.
He served in Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia in Africa and at Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, North Apennines and the Po Valley in Italy.
He received the:
Bronze Service Arrowhead,
Good Conduct Medal,
European-African-Middle East Campaign Service Medal and six overseas service bars.
He was discharged on Aug. 17, 1945.
