John Martin Ouse Jr.. was born on March 19th 1917 to John Martin Sr. & Mary [Peterson] Ouse in Duluth, Minnesota.
Mr. Ouse registered for military service on November 12th 1940. He was inducted in the U.S. Army on February 10th 1941 during WWII.
He was a member of the 125th Field Artillery Battalion, 34th Infantry Division, serving in Tunisia in North Africa and Naples-Foggia and Rome-Arno in the Italian Campaigns. He rose to the rank of Sergeant (SGT).
SGT Ouse earned the following merits for his service:
- Good Conduct Medal,
- European-African-Middle East Campaign Service Medal with 3 bronze battle stars,
- American Defense Service Medal,
- World War II Victory Medal, -and-
- four overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged on June 10th 1945. On break from his service he married Rosella Mae “Rosy” [Steen] in 1944.
Mr. Ouse died on September 8th 2005 in Two Harbors, Minnesota at 88 years of age. He is buried at Park Hill Cemetery in Duluth.
