John D. Mahovlich of Gilbert was inducted into the Army on July 29, 1942.

He was a Private First Class and medical aid man with Headquarters Battery, 414th Army Air Forces on Luzon in the Philippines.

Mr. Mahovlich received the: Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with a bronze battle star, American Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal and three overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged Jan. 6, 1946 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
