JAKUBEK, John

John Jakubek was born June 23rd 1924 to Czeslaw Teslaw Jakubek & Mary A [Hantz] Oles in Duluth, Minnesota.

John Jakubek served in the U.S. Army infantry at Camp Maxey, Texas during WWII. BSM-PH. He rose to the rank of Private First Class (PFC).

PFC Jakubek was honorably discharged on January 25th 1946. He earned the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart for his service.

After the war PFC Jakubek returned home and married Georgene Ardis “Gene” Kinney [Wood] and they raised a family.

Mr. Jakubek stayed active with military and community affairs such as being a member of  David Wisted/Zenith City Post #28 of the American Legion.  He was tragically killed on June 29th 1963 at 39 years of age of electrocution. He is buried at Oneota Cemetery in Duluth.
