John F. Hirsch of Eveleth, Minnesota, was inducted into the Army on June 23, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minn.
He served as a Technician 4th Grade and auto mechanic in the 997th Engineer Treadway Bridge Company in Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe.
Mr. Hirsch was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with four bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal and three overseas service bars.
He was discharged August 25, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
