John Edward Ludwig was born in Duluth, Minnesota on Aug 26, 1925.
He moved with his parents to Cloquet, Minnesota where he was drafted into the Army in Sept 1943.
He was assigned to Echo Company, 41st Infantry Regiment (Armored), 2nd Armored Division and landed in Normandy on June 9th 1944 (D+3). He was in Operation Cobra and the Breakout from St. Lo where he was wounded in action on July 28th and succumbed to his wounds on July 29, 1944.
He was buried at the American Military Cemetery in La Cambre, France and his body was returned to the U.S. in 1948.
He is buried at Oneota Cemetery in Duluth, Minnesota.
