Veteran’s account (below)
“My family was very involved in WWII. Oldest brother, Jere Knight, was a scientist who was part of the Manhattan Project that split the atom. We had no clue what his job was. My second brother was a fighter pilot in the Air Force. He was killed in Italy. The youngest brother enlisted in the Air Force when he was 18 and was career Air Force.
“I had to do my part. I was part of the United States Marine Air Corps. I taught ground school navigation and instrument flight. I will forever wonder how many who left for the Pacific area came home alive.
“In the Marine Corps, I learned honor and pride and service to America. I remain very patriotic.”
