James Wayne Rhodes served in World War II. He served in the U.S. Navy beginning on June 5, 1946.
He was assigned to Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and then assigned to the USS Sabine (AO-25).
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy on April 3, 1948.
Mr. Rhodes held the rank of Seaman 3rd Class. James Rhodes was in born in February of 1928 in Herrick, IL.
He is the son of Earl and Vesta Rhodes. He graduated from high school in 1946 and then later from college in 1952.

“I served aboard the USS Sabine (AO-25). Our ship would carry oil to various ports throughout the North Pacific. We would refuel aircraft carriers, submarines, and other ships at sea. We cruised over 100,000 miles. The Sabine would go to Arabia when more oil was needed.”
