James Buckley Tapp

James Buckley Tapp was born on December 6th 1920
Mr. Tapp enlisted in the Army Air Corps in November 1941. Home at entry: Eveleth, Minnesota.
Commissioned Major and served as a fighter pilot on P-36, P-40, P-47, P-38, P-51 aircraft in the Pacific Theater. He destroyed eight enemy aircraft in combat and was the first American pilot to become an ace over Japan.
Mr. Tapp was awarded the following:
- Distinguished Service Cross,
- Distinguished Flying Cross, -and-
- Air Medal.
