Jack O. Koivunen was inducted into the Army on September 8, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minn.
He was a Technician 4th Grade with the Coast Artillery, and a cook with Battery B, 729th Anti-Aircraft Gun Battalion in Central Europe. He participated in ground combat in the Rhineland, at Normandy in Northern France, and the Ardennes.
Mr. Koivunen received the: Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with six bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal and three overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged on July 17, 1945 at Fort Snelling, Minn.
