LUZOVICH, Jack Mark
Jack Mark Luzovich was born on April 17th 1923 to Jacob "Jack" & Mary [Mihelcic] Luzovich in Gilbert, Minnesota. Before enlisting for military service he married Dorothy Ann [Rapsilber] who also served in the military as part of the WAC (Women's Army Corps).
Jack Mark Luzovich was inducted into the U.S. Army on May 28th 1943 during WWII.
He was a toxic gas handler in the 9710th Technical Services Unit, Chemical Warfare Services, Guard and Security Division in the European Theater. He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSGT).
SGT Luzovich earned the following merits for his service:
- Good Conduct Medal,
- European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal,
- American Campaign Medal, -and=
- World War II Victory Medal.
He was honorably discharged on March 2nd 1946 at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. After the war he returned home to his wife Dorothy and they started a family.
Mr. Luzovich died on June 8th 1977 at 54 years of age. He is buried at Gilbert Cemetery in Gilbert, Minnesota.
