Howard M. Peterson was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota and attended Duluth East.
He was an auto mechanic before he enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Feb. 6, 1942.
He made three cruises in the Pacific as a Chief Motor Machinist's Mate aboard PT boats with Motor Torpedo Squadrons 4, 7 and 36.
He was wounded when the PT boat he was aboard was torpedoed.
He received a disability discharge on July 2, 1945.
After the war, he returned to Duluth and worked as an auto mechanic and service manager until his disability retirement in 1967.
He died in 1978.
