PEDERSEN, Henrik Marius

Henrik Marius Pedersen was born on September 18th 1917 to Amund Mickal & Alette Paulina [Andersen] Pedersen in McVille, North Dakota.

Mr. Pedersen was inducted into the U.S. Army on May 28th 1941. His home at entry was Hibbing, Minnesota.

He was a bridge builder with Company A, 713th Engineer Battalion, serving in Tunisia in North Africa; Naples-Foggia and Rome-Arno in Italy; southern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe. He rose to the rank of TEC5.

TEC5 Pedersen earned the following merits for his service:

  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • American Defense Service Medal,
  • European-African-Middle East Campaign Service Medal with 6 bronze battle stars,
  • World War II Victory Medal,  -and-
  • five overseas service bars.

 

He was honorably discharged on August 28th 1945. After the war, he returned home an married Eva Caroline [Erickson] on September 18th 1944 and they started a family.

Mr. Pedersen died on June 15th 1991 at the age of 85 years. He is buried at Gilbert Cemetery in Gilbert, Minnesota.
