Helen M. Sterle (nee Grams) enlisted in the Women's Army Corps (WAC) on August 18, 1943.
She served as a Technician Fourth Grade and radio operator with the 6715th WAC Communications Company in Rome-Arno in the Italian campaign.
She was awarded the following: Good Conduct Medal, Women's Army Corps Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one bronze campaign star, and World War II Victory Medal.
Mrs. Sterle was honorably discharged November 6, 1945, at Fort Des Moines, Iowa.
