Mr. Siegel served during World War II. He served in the U.S. Navy as a radio operator.

He was the youngest of four sons and was born on February 8, 1927, in Duluth, Minnesota. He was the son of Joseph and Lena (Latts) Siegel, both of whom were Russian émigrés.

Mr. Siegel attended Duluth Central High School and at 17 joined the Navy.

Mr. Siegel died at age 81 on September 16, 2008, in Northfield, Minnesota.
