GRANT Jr, Harry Peter "Bud"

Harry Peter "Bud" Grant Jr. was born on May 20th 1927 to Harry Peter Sr. & Bernice Evelyn [Kielley] Grant in Superior, Wisconsin. He graduated from Superior Senior High School lettering in 3 sports: football, basketball and baseball.

Mr. Grant enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was assigned to Naval training base on Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay. Since WWII had just completed he was re-assigned to the Great Lakes Naval Station in North Chicago, Illinois.

After his service he was honorably discharged. He returned home, graduated from the University of Minnesota as a 3-sport letterman. He was drafted by and played for both the Minneapolis Lakers (NBA) and the Philadelphia Eagles (NFL). He also played and coached up in Canada with the CFL.

He is better known as Bud and for his coaching days for the Minnesota Vikings. He won a NBA Championship playing for the Minneapolis Lakers.

Bud married Patricia Jean [Nelson] in 1950 and they started a family.

Bud died on March 11th 2023 in Bloomington, Minnesota at 95 years of age. He is buried at Gordon Memorial Cemetery in Gordon, Wisconsin.
