“Harold Lee Gary, 81, of Oklahoma City passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 10, 2008.
He was born in Mount Pleasant, Texas.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1943 where he performed as an aircraft mechanic on B-17s while stationed in England with the 100th Bomb Wing.
Later he became a tank crewman serving in the European theater until the end of World War II. After the war he remained in the Army as a military policeman, serving in Germany until 1947 when he joined the newly formed United States Air Force.
In the Air Force he continued to serve as a policeman. He also participated in athletics, joining his unit’s boxing team, where he won the United States Air Force in Europe Heavyweight title in 1948.
He served in the Air Force until 1967, when he retired at the rank of SMSgt in Duluth, Minnesota. He served more than 24 years in the U.S. Military and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.”
