WALLIN, Hans Gustav
Hans Gustav Wallin was born on May 28th 1913 to Emil Gustav & Maria Amanda Michelsdr [Fors] Wallin in Hibbing, Minnesota.
Mr. Wallin was inducted into the U.S. Army on June 13th 1942 at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Home at entry: Hibbing, Minnesota.
He served as a finance technician clerk with Headquarters Company with the Army Forces in the Western Pacific and New Guinea. He rose to the rank of Master Sergeant (MSGT).
SGT Wallin earned the following merits for his service:
- Presidential Unit Citation with oak leaf cluster,
- Good Conduct Medal,
- American Campaign Medal,
- Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 1 bronze battle star,
- World War II Victory Medal, -and-
- Philippine Liberation Medal.
He was honorably discharged on December 30th 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. After the war he returned home to family in Hibbing. He married Leanore Ann [Pfeifer] in 1948 and they raised a family.
Mr. Wallin died on March 12th 1977 at 63 years of age in Hibbing. He is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
