Gunnard A. Backman

Mr. Backman entered the Army March 12, 1941, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Chisholm, Minnesota.

He served as a Private First Class with Company B of the 34th Infantry Regiment. He participated in the liberation of the Philippines.

Awarded: Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippines Liberation Medal with one bronze star.

Honorably discharged November 14, 1945, Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
