Gerald P. Spencer

Gerald P. Spencer enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve on September 8, 1942. Home at entry: Duluth, Minnesota.

He served as a Corporal, rifleman, scout/sniper, and clerk with Company F of the Second Battalion of the Seventh Regiment and First Marine Division in the Pacific Theater. He participated in action against the enemy at Peleliu: Okinawa; and the occupation of Tientsin, China. He was wounded in action on June 21, 1945, in Okinawa.

Mr. Spencer was awarded the following: Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three bronze battle stars, and World War II Victory Medal. He embarked on the USS Wakefield for San Diego, California on January 14, 1946.

He was honorably discharged at Great Lakes, Illinois, on February 17, 1946.
