Gerald N. Haavisto was inducted into the Army Air Corps on March 10, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minn.

He served as a Private First Class with Section B of the 1071st Army Air Forces Base Unit in the continental United States.

Mr. Haavisto was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.

He was honorably  discharged November 23, 1944 at Army Air Forces Convalescent Hospital, Nashville, Tenn.
