CHICAG, Gerald "Jerry"

Gerald "Jerry" Chicag was born on Ocotber 21st 1926 to John B. & Suzie [Ashaway] Chicag in Emo, Ontario, Canada. The family settled in Nett Lake, Minnesota.

Mr. Chicag of Nett Lake, Minnesota was inducted into the U.S. Army on May 27th 1946 at Ft. McClellan, Alabama.

He was a rifleman with Company B, 9th Training Battalion, in the United States during WWII. He later served as a military policeman (MP) with the 622nd MP Company in the Pacific Theater. He rose to the rank of Private First Class (PFC).

PFC Chicag received the Army of Occupation Service Medal (Japan) and World War II Victory Medal.

He was honorably discharged on October 27th 1947. After the war he returned home and married Lupita Roberta [Martinez] and they started a family.

Mr. Chicag died on October 20th 1997 the day before he would have turned 53 years old in Virginia, Minnesota.
