He served in the U.S. Air Force, which he joined after graduating from Duluth Central High School. He was stationed in Germany, England, Alaska, California, and Massachusetts.

He was born in Duluth, Minnesota, the son of Effie Martin.

Mr. Delvas died at age 76 in Duluth, Minnesota, on April 29, 2008.
