George William "Bill" Code was born on February 22nd 1917 to John Edward & Doris Annette (Loebach) Code in Proctornott (now Proctor), Minnesota. He graduated from Virginia, Minnesota High School. Family recalls that he was an accomplished boxer.

George enlisted in the US Army on December 28th 1940 at Long Island City in Queens New York when he was 23 years of age. He was released from service on June 24th 1941 and moved to California. He then re-enlisted in the Army Air Corps as an Aviation Cadet on September 16th 1941 for three years. During this time he rose to the rank of Lieutenant (LT).

LT George William Code was a US Army navigator and bombardier during WWII. He served in the India theatre of operations. After the war he married Elizabeth [Libby] Riley (Edwards) and they started a family.

MAJ Code also served in the Korean War in the early 1950's. They had settled in Florida and he stayed active in military organizations such as the local VFW and American Legion chapters.

Mr. Code died on September 29th 1995 in Tampa, Florida at 78 years of age. He is buried at Lake Carroll Cemetery in Tampa.
