He served as a Technician Fifth Grade, tank driver, and machine gunner with Company A of the 914th Field Artillery Battalion, Seventh Armored Division in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe.
"The Seventh Armored division held at St. Vith, Belgium, when the Battle of Bulge began on December 16, 1944. It lasted 40 days. On to Germany and the end of the war in Europe. Back to the U.S. and was honorably discharged on December 23, 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin."
Awarded: Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal, and three overseas service bars.
