BUSSEY, Frederick Ray

Frederick Ray "Fritz" Bussey was born on February 21st 1918 to Frederick Charles & Annie Laura [Pool] Bussey in Hibbing, Minnesota. Before going off to war Fritz married Jean Pax [Austin].

Mr. Bussey enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 15th 1940, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota before the US had entered the war. Home at entry: Hibbing, Minnesota.

He served with Company D of the Third Infantry Regiment in Rhineland and Northern France during WWII. He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSGT).

SGT Bussey earned the following merits for his service:

  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal,
  • American Defense Service Medal with 1 bronze service star,  -and-
  • five overseas service bars.

 

He was honorably discharged on June 21st 1945, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. After the war he returned home to his wife.

Mr. Bussey died on August 9th 1989 at 71 years of age in Virginia, Minnesota. He is buried at Greenwood Cememtery in Virginia
