Frederick M. Hammer

Frederick M. Hammer of Leonidas, Minnesota, was inducted into the Army on July 22, 1943 at Fort Snelling, Minn.

He served as a Technical Sergeant in heavy weapons with Company A of the 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Div. in the Ryukyu Islands. He was wounded in action on Okinawa on April 22, 1945.

Mr. Hammer was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Service Medal with one bronze battle star, World War II Victory Medal and three overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged February 13, 1946 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
