Fred Erkkila was inducted into the Naval Reserve February 27, 1943. Home at entry: Florenton, Minn.

He served as a Carpenter's Mate 1st Class (Seabees) with the 71st Naval Construction Battalion in Guadalcanal, Bougainville, Admiralty Islands, and Okinawa.

He constructed airfields, roads, bridges, and recreational facilities.

He was honorably discharged October 28, 1945, Minneapolis, Minn.
