Frank A. Oberstar of Eveleth, Minnesota was inducted into the Army Corps of Engineers on May 20, 1941.
He was a Technician 5th Grade and a construction machine operator with Company A, 46th Engineer Construction Battalion in New Guinea, East Indies and southern Philippines.
Mr. Oberstar received the: Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Service Medal with three bronze battle stars, American Defense Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal with two bronze stars, World War II Victory Medal and six overseas service bars.
He was discharged on Aug. 9, 1945.
