Frank James Swanberg served in World War II. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942. He trained at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Illinois.
Mr. Swanberg served aboard the USS Arlington. He developed scarlet fever and was transferred to the USS Bountiful hospital ship. After he recovered, he was reassigned to duty aboard the Bountiful. After the war, Mr. Swanberg was present at the Bikini Island atomic bomb testing.
He was discharged in 1946. Mr. Swanberg held the rank of Coxswain. He was assigned to duty as an Armed Guard.
Mr. Swanberg was born in 1924 in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. He is the son of Otto and Esther Swanberg.
