Frank J. Stajer entered the Army Air Corps on October 2, 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Biwabik, Minnesota.
Served as a Sergeant, aircraft engine mechanic, crew chief, and aerial engineer with the 133rd Army Air Forces Base Unit in the China-Burma-India Theater. He was a crew chief on C-46 aircraft flying the "Hump' to China for two years.
Mr. Stajer shared the following: "We were not a combat unit but we were put into combat units when they needed air drops and troop movements."
He was awarded the following: Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal, Air Crew Member Badge, and three overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged January 3, 1946, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
