Frank J. Kastelic of Eveleth, Minnesota was inducted into the Army on March 10, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minn.
He was a Private First Class and a truck driver for the Reconnaissance Company, 899th Tank Destroyer Battalion in Tunisia, Africa; Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Italy; Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe. He was wounded in action at Normandy on July 11, 1944.
Mr. Kastelic was awarded the: Purple Heart, and the European-African-Middle East Campaign Service Medal with eight bronze battle stars.
He was discharged on October 30, 1945 at Camp Atterbury, Ind.
