Frank E. Malnar of Gilbert was inducted into the Army on April 25, 1942.
He was a Technician 5th Grade and a medic with the Medical Detachment, 152nd Infantry Regiment in New Guinea and the Philippines (liberation). He was wounded in action in June 1945 in the Southwest Pacific Theater.
He was awarded the: Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Combat Medical Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three bronze battle stars, American Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation medal with a bronze star, World War II Victory Medal and three overseas service bars.
He was discharged on Nov. 2, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
