Mr. Banttari inducted into the Army April 30, 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.

He served as a Private with the Field Artillery in North Africa and Italy.

He was awarded the following: European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with bronze battle stars (for Algerian, Tunisian and Sicilian campaigns), and World War II Victory Medal.

Mr. Banttari was honorably discharged October 28, 1944, at Percy Jones Convalescent Hospital, Battle Creek, Michigan.
