SOGER, Everett Charles
Everett Charles Soger was born to on March 21st 1919 to Oskar Edward & Lola Soger in Virginia, Minnesota.
Mr. Soger enlisted for military service on February 17th 1944 at Ft. Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on March 22nd 1944.
He served as a Corporal with the 72nd MP Company.
CPL Soder shared the following: “Departed for the European Theater on September 10, 1944, arrived in France on September 17 with a stop in England en route. Entered the combat area on September 23 with the 28th Infantry Div., Siegfried Line, Aachen, Germany."
He continued, “Involved in the Huertgen Forest horror, then we got caught in the Battle of the Bulge on December 16, 1944 at 5:30 a.m. The German artillery gave us the business and we got surrounded by the Germans in Bastogne. I was wounded in action about December 26, 1944, and sent back to the hospital in Leeds, England. Sent back to France in April 1945. Served with the MPs in limited service until February 1945. Discharged on February 28, 1945.”
Mr. Soger died on September 15th 2006 at 88 years of age in Orr, Minnesota.
