Eugene Nikula was inducted into the Army on June 29, 1942.

He was a Staff Sergeant and a section leader in Company G of the 378th Infantry Regiment. He served in Northern France, Central Europe, and Rhineland. He was wounded in action in France November 15, 1944.

He received the: Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Service Medal with 3 bronze battle stars, and World War II Victory Medal.

He was discharged October 1, 1945.
