Ernest O. Hedquist was inducted into the Army Air Corps March 31, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.

He served as a Private First Class and carpenter with the 397th Base Headquarters and Air Base Squadron in Alaska.

He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and one overseas service bar .

He was honorably discharged January 16, 1946 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
