Ernest Knapper from Brainerd, MN served in the 10th mountain division in the Italian campaign. He was part of a special ops unit which would blow up bridges and other military targets. During his engagement in the war he served with Bob Dole.
Ernie was married to LaDonna and together they had two daughters, Peggy and Junell. Junell today is Junell Murchie and lives in Georgetown, California and has a son Jason Wayt and a daughter Dominique Ferguson. Peggy is today Peggy Hartman and lives in Crosby, Minnesota. She married Larry Hartman and together had three children, Joel, Jessica and Daniel.
