Emil Stainiger was inducted into the Army on July 21, 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Chisholm, Minnesota.

He served as Private First Class and carpenter with the 1024th Signal Corps in New Guinea and Southern Philippines (Liberation).

He was awarded the following: Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal, five overseas service bars, and Philippine Liberation Medal with one bronze star.

Mr. Stainiger was honorably discharged on December 13, 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
