Elmer O. Ortendahl

Elmer O. Ortendahl of Cook, Minnesota was inducted into the Army on Aug. 17, 1942.

He was a Private First Class and a cannoneer with Battery C, 987th Field Artillery Battalion, serving in northern France, the Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe.

Mr.Ortendahl received the: Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Service Medal with five bronze battle stars and bronze arrowhead, World War II Victory Medal and two overseas service bars.

He was discharged on Oct. 16, 1945.
