Edward P. Zeidler enlisted into the Army Air Corps on April 15, 1944. Home at entry: Hibbing, Minnesota.
He served as a 1st Lieutenant and pilot of a B-24 Liberator bomber with the 374th Bomb Squadron of the 308th Bomb Group (Heavy) in the China-Burma-India-Theater.
He shared the following: "Departed U.S. from Bangor, Maine, in a new B-24 and went to China via Africa and India. I brought the same plane back in November 1945."
He was awarded the Air Medal, Presidential Unit Citation with oak leaf cluster, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with six bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal, and Philippine Liberation Medal.
He was relieved from active duty on December 23, 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. He was recalled to active duty in November 1952 during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Zeidler retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in January 1969.
